Looking from the outside of the mother/daughter relationship, I can see the inherent tensions and also the connection between them during the teenage years. Their blue hair speaks to belonging to one family despite their apparent difference in appearances. The young one, looking sweet is actually anything but. Her mother is fearful for the stranger she has become, mourning the loss of the child she thought she knew and understood.
