Biography
Art has always influenced all facets of my life. In my early adult years whilst raising a family, this found form through building and photography. It was not until my early forties whilst living in England, that I had the time to develop fine art as my primary passion. In 1998 I enrolled at Heatherleys School of Fine Art in Chelsea, London where I concentrated on water colour compositions.
Later that year I approached Israel Zohar, a contemporary artist of international standing, who agreed to take me as a pupil. Changing from water colour to oil, I spent a very fruitful six years with him.
During this time I painted commissioned portraits and sold my stilllife paintings from my studio. I returned home to New Zealand in 2003, settling in Kerikeri, where I painted and taught from my home studio. During this time I exhibited and sold my work in the Bay of Islands, Auckland and Wellington, usually to overseas buyers.
In 2013 we moved to Cromwell, where I work from a small home studio. Ideas flourish as I continue to adapt a classical training to my Antipodean roots exploring ideas that have contemporary resonance.
