“What I am seeking to achieve above all in most of my paintings is the play of light. It is a never ending learning curve which is quite humbling but also always fun to explore.”
The majority of Sarah’s work encompasses landscapes in a realistic and detailed approach. She primarily works with acrylic paint on a smooth, hard surface. Sarah is especially captivated by the diversity of nature and mostly paints landscape scenes that she connected with. She has a soft spot for painting large, sunlit forest scenes.
Sarah grew up in Southern Germany and was interested in painting from a young age. At secondary school she received a diverse art and art history programme led by a professional sculptor. Sarah thoroughly enjoyed the process and wanted to improve her skills. Ever since, Sarah has expanded on her work through experimentation and learning from artists around her. Sarah first came to New Zealand in 2003 where she met her partner. At the end of 2011, Sarah moved to Dunedin with her Kiwi partner for good. As a trained primary school teacher she has been working in Dunedin Schools all the while working on her paintings.
