sara Gillies
Biography
Sara Gillies lives in Milton where she works from an onsite workshop. Sara, her husband and dog live in a bus which gives them the freedom to travel around the South Island. Her training has been self- taught, with her only qualification, school certificate in art.
Sara has a “Kiwiana” style approach to her work with each piece evolving as she works. Sometimes she knows in her head where she wants to go but it can depend on the materials she has on hand, which of course makes each piece unique. Sara can make anything, from small animals to wall art, outdoor sculpture and Singer sewing machine tractors.

I’m saddened seeing all the waste that goes into landfill and like to change recycled steel into loved sculpture.
